If you're new to Chiropractic, it is essentially healthcare without drugs or surgery. It works with the body's own innate capacity to heal. It is largely the responsibility of the nervous system to heal and function. The nervous system is the brain, spinal cord and nerves coming out to all areas of the body. Your well moving spine helps to power it. This is amazing, because you already have the fundamental requirements within to be at your best. Health is from inside out. The body's natural intelligence or innate, allow us optimal function.

 

A chiropractor removes interference (stress manifest in the body - caused by trauma, toxins or thoughts) by adjusting the spine and your body heals. A key area where irritation, inflammation and interference occur is the spine. This is why a chiropractor will check your spine during your appointment, to see if there are any areas of interference to your body working well. These are sometimes called subluxation. Subluxation is a term that describes dysfunction in a joint complex. 

The spine is designed to be a strong and stable, protecting the vital contents, the spinal cord, the nervous system. The spine is also a flexible structure, allowing full range of movement and activity.

So, a chiropractor will check your spine to see that it is able to move as it should. If there is an area of subluxation or dysfunction, a chiropractor will apply an adjustment. An adjustment is a high velocity low amplitude force, specifically delivered to restore normal movement of a joint complex in the spine or other area of the body. The adjustment creates balanced movement in the spine, removing interference, restoring function. Your innate ability for healing does the job.

If you get a cut on your arm, who heals it? You do.

Each individual is unique, but all our nervous systems need the right amount of stimulation, fuel and oxygen. Chiropractic care can greatly improve the capacity for health within the spine and body. It can help with many conditions the most common being neck pain, headaches and back pain. Spinal movement is a real key to having a healthy nervous system (brain and body). Here's how.

Think about the very first activity that happened in your life.

A fumble around on the floor before walking?

A little before that...

Crying out for food?

Before that still...

The very first gasp of air at birth?

Even before this first breath!

The very first experience in your nervous system was something that you still deal with every day. Gravity.

That's right. Even in the womb you were experiencing this constant force on your ever developing nervous system (brain and body).

When you flex, bend, move, twist, lift you are constantly stretching tissue. This stimulates nerve flow especially through the weight bearing joints of your body. These are? Your spine and pelvis.

This frame is constant under load from gravity and small spinal movements will produce signals of electricity that fire up through the spinal cord into the lower brain. This lower brain area is responsible for a great deal of the autonomic functions that happen throughout your body. Breathing, heart rate and rhythm, digestion, toxin clearing and more. Now, when you stop moving these joints, you effectively reduce the amount of electricity into the lower brain!!

How well does your blow dryer, computer, EV or house function on low power? Not very well.

And so is the case when you lose the capacity to move the spine. 

This concept is continually being demonstrated in research. It beautifully describes why we feel and do better when we are physically active (strength and flexibility).

Chiropractic Healthcare is about enhancing nerve flow (by moving the spine), bringing balance to the nervous system to restore the normal natural state of well-being. To be at your best you require a healthy nervous system. To have a healthy nervous system, a well-moving spine is key. Chiropractic works to keep you moving freely and functioning well.
